About
Rae Evans grew up in the mountains of West Virginia where she spent summers near the lake and winters curled up with a mystery novel. She began "writing" as a child, when every finished book lingered for days as she dreamed of new adventures with beloved characters.

Later, traveling abroad helped her develop an appreciation for other cultures and realize that all beings desire the same things despite where they reside in the world. Today, she is a teacher and mom to two grown daughters and her rescue dog, Sadie.

Rae has penned several manuscripts and is currently seeking literary representation for her young adult stories: THE LOVE NOTES OF MILLIE O'BRIEN, a speculative romance with a dual point of view and THE OPENING, a speculative fiction story that has its characters traveling to a world they could never have imagined.

The Opening
Book One
At 17, Dani has never met her father and can't wait to escape her annoying and judgmental mom. When she discovers a dangerous parallel world with her friends, she is frightened by their odd beliefs and advances in technology. They return home vowing to never go back, but when Dani learns that her mother has an advanced form of cancer, she enlists the help of Eli, a young man from over there who has been labeled a "stray." Despite her own fears and the warnings of her friends, she returns to the other world to help her mom. But nothing could have prepared her for the discovery of her father's identity, nor the sacrifice that Eli would make so she could live.

The Love Notes of Millie O'Brien
Seventeen-year-old Millie is a gifted musician, but a shameful secret threatens to derail her dreams of being a concert pianist. She has three obstacles: her jealous brother, her dogmatic mother, and herself. The summer at the lake was supposed to be a time to relax, refocus, and convince her mother that she deserves to attend a music conservatory, but everything erupts and her secret is revealed. With the help of her new friend, Witt, and a ghost that haunts the church where Millie works, she finds the strength to fight for what matters most.

Witt has one goal, forget his deceitful mother who abandoned him and move on with his life. Until he meets Millie, he doesn't know how to manage his anger or forgive his mom for her infidelity. Now that he has a project, refurbishing a piano for Millie, he can focus on the importance of family and forgiving himself for his own past mistakes.

The Love Notes of Millie O'Brien is a speculative YA novel told through a dual POV.
